Beaches Closed as Precautionary Measure

As the red tide has closed waters for local fishermen, it has also closed all Coast beaches as well.
While the algae doesn’t post an imminent threat to humans, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality closed the beaches as a precautionary measure. The bacteria have the possibility to cause respiratory problems, as well as irritations to the eyes, nose, skin and throat.
While advised not to swim in the water, you are still welcome to walk the beaches if you can handle the smell of the fish washed ashore.
