Bay St. Louis Investigating Fire That Sent One to Hospital

The Bay St. Louis Fire Department is still investigating a house fire that hospitalized one resident.

Officials say the fire broke out sometime after midnight Wednesday night on Oliver Street and when they arrived, the fire had already spread throughout the entire high rise home. Both residents and their two dogs were able to escape, but one resident is still in the hospital, being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the lower half of her body. Fire officials are still determining the cause of the fire.

Deputy Chief Marty Strong of the Bay St. Louis Fire Department says, “The county fire marshal is getting all the paper work they needed to start their investigation, so they should start that this evening hopefully, so in a couple of days, we’re hoping to have a cause.”

According to the Deputy Chief, the house is a complete loss.
