Barry Lyons Baseball Wooden Bat League Showcase

Bobby Bradley, Harrison Central alum, and third round pick of the Cleveland Indians now at the AA level with the Akron Rubber Ducks. B.A. Vollmuth, Biloxi alum and third round pick of the Oakland Athletics, now an assistant coach at his alma mater Southern Miss. Daniel Keating, Gulfport alum and current USM senior, also the 2016 Conference USA Tournament MVP.
What they all have in common are successful baseball careers as alumni of the Barry Lyons Baseball Fall Wooden Bat League.
A pair of showcase games going on tonight down at MGM Park. This is game two featuring the top upperclassmen from the Gulf Coast.
Here’s what Barry Lyons had to say about his new prodigies and trading in the aluminum for some wood. “It makes me feel extremely good inside knowing that I’m able to help facilitate this opportunity for them, and I’m very thankful for the Biloxi Shuckers. But these kids enjoy it, if they don’t then something is wrong with them. We have five or six guys in this game tonight, the second game, that I believe will play college baseball and maybe two or three of those guys got a chance to play professionally. More of them might, you never know.”
Overall, the league consists of four teams comprised of 48 players from Mississippi Gulf Coast high schools.
