Bacot McCarty Foundation holds ‘The Jolly’ Kickoff

It’s been called one of the biggest events of the year by some and it’s almost back. News 25’s Kristen Anzuini has the details on this year’s Jolly event.

It was a jolly good time in Pascagoula today as members of the Bacot McCarty Foundation hosted their Jolly Kickoff. “This is where we kick off all of the activities for the Jolly McCarty Memorial Gala and Golf Tournament which is coming up April 26th and 27th.”

These events raise money for the youth, education, and the arts. One of the groups who receive funds from these events is the Ocean Springs Duchess Club which is an organization that helps children in Ocean Springs. Ocean Springs Duchess Club Member Joey Conwill said, “There are a lot of families at Christmas time that fall on hard times, the Duchess Club provides toys for all of the children that wouldn’t have a good Christmas. That is a very important project for us. The funds we get from Bacot McCarty go to that.”

This is the 15th year for the Jolly Memorial Golf Tournament and Gala. “Funding is really centered around a big grant that we receive from the IP Casino Resort. They have participated with us over the last 11 years and have donated over two million dollars to the Bacot McCarty Foundation through the Jolly effort.”

The theme for this year’s event is Mardi Gras. If you would like to attend you can purchase tickets online at bacotmccarty.org. “It really provides or increases the quality of life we have here in South Mississippi. We have such a wonderful place to live and for us to be able to give back and help those who are less fortunate, provide scholarships for continuing education, it is just such a rewarding activity.”
