Attorneys for SRHS retirees petition Fifth Circuit

The attorney’s representing 240 retirees in the Singing River Hospital pension plan filed a petition for a rehearing with the Fifth Circuit Appeals to seek different rulings.
The petition filed by Earl Denham and Harvey Barton requests an en banc hearing before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals which would require the case be heard before all 17 judges on the bench.
The recent decision was made by a three judge panel and should it go unchallenged the case would stand as precedent for the United States.
Denham and Barton argue that the rulings in this case have national implications as pension funds throughout the country are in crisis.
