Attendance is on the Upswing at Popular Gulfport Attraction
It was a little rainy throughout parts of South Mississippi Friday, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of locals and visitors alike visiting one South Mississippi attraction.
The line was long as the doors opened at Marine Ocean Adventures Park in Gulfport Friday morning. Some traveled from other states to catch the dolphin show, and others even swam with the dolphins.
Dr. Moby , Solangi, Director of the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies and Ocean Marine Adventures, says attendance has been on the rise the past few months, and that they’re getting closer to pre-COVID numbers.
“It’s been phenomenal. March and April were great. I think people were cooped up and with a lot of people getting vaccinated, they’re coming out. They’re coming out. We’re getting a lot of school field trips,” Dr. Solangi said. “We’re staggering people so that everybody is safe. We’re trying to give them every opportunity to wear a mask and socially distance. People are really, really coming out after one year of being in isolation.”
Dr. Solangi says Marine Ocean Adventures provides interactive activities for the entire family and has free parking. For more information, just head on over to imms.org or oceanadventures.us.
