Apartment fire in Gulfport sends five people to the hospital

Gulfport firefighters were called to a fire that sent five people to the hospital Monday night.

Gulfport Fire Chief Billy Kelley sent these pictures, showing the massive blaze. He says the call came in around 7:20 last night.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of the first and second floor of the apartment complex which is Coast Village Apartments on Oregon Drive, just behind Gulfport High School.

Chief Kelley says one person was forced to jump out of a window to escape the flames.

All five patients suffered minor injuries, cuts, and smoke inhalation.

There were no injuries to Gulfport firefighters.

This fire is under investigation.
