Anonymous donor pays lunch debt at Saucier Elementary

A donation for students in the Harrison County School District has left parents, students, and teachers in awe of the generosity of its community.

Last week an anonymous donor reached out to Saucier Elementary’s librarian about student’s unpaid lunch debts. That donor gave $450 to wipe the slate clean for students.

He told the librarian he felt the need to donate because he was a ‘sucker for a hungry child.’ Saucier Elementary Librarian Jamie Speights said, “It is just a strong show from our community of how important the students at this school are, not only to teachers and the families that are members of the school, but also the community. Everyone is just touched by the generous offer.”

These donors are always appreciated, but if your child has a lunch debt you can always apply for free or reduced school lunches through the Harrison County School District’s website.
