Air Force Retirement Home Open House

The sights and sounds of Veterans Day could be seen at the Armed Forces Retirement Home today for their annual Veterans Day Open House.
Complete with helicopter landings and patriot guard motorcycles, it was a celebration featuring exhibits and presentations made by many local agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, Army National Guard and local police and fire departments.
The open house event served as an opportunity for some of the retirement home residents to showcase their artwork.
Army and Air Force Veteran Ronald Washington said, “It’s a fantastic event and it gives all of us artists and woodcraftsmen an opportunity to show our product and sell it. The last open house I sold seven paintings.”
Sergeant Michael Beeson said, “They had it a lot harder than I did. We just give thanks to them. They’ve paved the road for us. We’ve got big boots to fill.”
The Armed Forces Retirement Home celebrates Veterans Day each year with an open house and they also host one each spring.
