Acadian Plaza shooting

One man is in custody following a shooting that occurred Monday evening in Gulfport.
Forty-seven year-old Jerome Verdell Jefferson of Gulfport has been charged with attempted murder after turning himself in shortly after the shooting occurred.
The shooting happened at the Acadian Plaza Shopping Center just north of the Golden Corral on Highway 49 right before 4 p.m. Gulfport police responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute where one victim, Jefferson’s wife, was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Jefferson had shot his wife during an argument. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later flown to Mobile for further treatment.
Jefferson is still in custody at the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a one million dollar bond.
