St. Martin High students damage building during prank

On the evening of May 12th, several St. Martin students got inside of the school and caused several hundred dollars in damages.

According to the press release sent by Superintendent Dr. John Strycker, the students were able to get into the building and destroyed parts of the property including a broken scoreboard machine, damage to the bathroom, and much more.

Administration quickly identified the students involved and discipline interviews were conducted as soon as possible. “Good kids that made poor choices and like tonight we are celebrating graduation to where when I talk to those kids, I still love those kids, and it really is a good group of kids. I got to know them. Some poor choices, so something that started out as a senior prank all in good fun ended with some things getting damaged — got a little bit out of control.”

St. Martin freshman Noel Gray said, “I was shocked. I didn’t think the seniors were going to go that far at all. I thought they were going to do something minor, but I guess they didn’t and I was like – I saw it on Snapchat and I was like wow that’s crazy.”

All seniors involved in the prank are still allowed to graduate with their class.

Dr. Strycker says the school will place a 24-hour security guard next spring on the property to ensure safety of the building.
