Alexis Pierson remembered one month after her death
In Hancock County, family and friends of a 14-year-old who died due to accidental gun violence remembered her at the local VFW.
Though the event was a benefit, it felt like a celebration of Alexis Pierson’s life.
This Mother’s Day weekend, the parents of 14-year-old Alexis Pierson still mourn one month after their daughter died in an accidental shooting.
Proceeds from a benefit lunch at the Sam C. Ladner Memorial VFW would help the young family find a new home.
Though the reason for the benefit at the VFW was a somber one, friends of Lexi Pierson were overjoyed to talk about their classmate.
Her cheerleading squad showed News 25 one of the cheers they used to do together.
Jaelynn Padron said, “She had a positive attitude, she loved TikTok a lot, she liked hanging out with her friends and family a lot.”
Breelyn Ellis said, “She wanted to be a cop.”
Other squad members joined in. “She was my friend since elementary school. She was really sweet and when you were sad, she always kept you up.”
“Lexi was my cousin and we grew up together, and she was always the life of the party.”
“She always made me smile no matter what, even if she was having a bad day.”
“I just want to say Alexis was the most outstanding person I’ve ever met. She was a sweet and caring person.”
“Lexi was like my little sister. She was my best friend’s little sister. She came over every weekend, and it was always the four of them. She was excellent, she was amazing.”
One thing was clear: in only 14 years, Pierson had left an immense impression on her classmates and family members, an Alexis-shaped gap that can never be filled.
