Advocates for Freedom holds second annual Walk against Human Trafficking

To help raise awareness, Advocates for Freedom, along with students at Ocean Springs High, hosted the second annual Walk against Human Trafficking.

Students from Ocean Springs High stood and walked proudly with signs in hand attempting to raise awareness for human trafficking and its world-wide affect it has today.

The students began the night with speeches from guests as well as a reading of the story of a human trafficking survivor saved by AFF.

Each person then grabbed a candle and a sign and marched a lap around the Greyhound Stadium track field to share their love and support for those being trafficked.

As of today, there are 29 million human slaves across the world for both labor and sexual acts.

The number of children prostituted each year is more than 300,000. Ocean Springs Junior Emma Scruggs said, “Being able to come out here and support this cause is really special because it’s something, I didn’t know much about human trafficking before doing this. This has made me really like open my eyes. I read that it’s the second most prevalent crime in America which I thought was really interesting because I had no idea and I feel like that’s really upsetting if it’s so prevalent.”

If you see or suspect any acts of human trafficking, calling AFF at 888-3737-888 or text ‘help’ to 233733.
