Telecommunication Appreciation Week at Gulfport PD

This week is Telecommunication Appreciation Week and the Gulfport Police Department made sure their work was appreciated.

Today, the dispatch team members each took turns getting a free massage from Blue Cliff massage school therapists.

The team says these massages were much needed due to the everyday stress that comes with the job.

The team received other gifts as thanks as well such as pizza from Dominoes and Papa John’s.

The Gulfport Dispatch Team can receive up to 500 calls a day on average. Gulfport PD Communications OIC Assistant Rachael Corrin said, “As a dispatcher, we don’t tend to be recognized. We are kind of the voice in the background; we are the voice on the headset, in your ear or over the phone, so we’re not seen, so it’s nice to be given the opportunity to be shown ‘hey thank you for all of the hard work that you do. We appreciate you.'”

AMR also brought over its therapy dog Tucker for a visit as well as come cookies from Great American Cookie.
