Mississippi students increase participation, achievement in Advanced Placement for 2025-26
During the last school year, over 13,000 public school students in Mississippi took advanced placement exams.
State education officials say of that number, a record high of 10,305 exams earned a qualifying score.
Compared to the 2024-2025 school year, the numbers mark a 16.2 percent increase in students taking AP exams, a 17.3 percent increase in tests taken and a 12.6 percent increase in passing scores on the exams.
Mississippi is one of 37 states that has established a consistent statewide AP credit policy.
This policy entitles students who score three or higher on an AP exam to earn at least three college credits at any state public university or community college.
