Vicari Auto Auction
Bidding wars started, cars were auctioned off and many became proud new owners of some truly beautiful classic vehicles.
The Vicari Auction at the Coast Coliseum and Convention Center started today.
It’s an exciting environment with once in a lifetime cars at once in a lifetime prices, like a 1940 V8 Deluxe that went for $12,000.
The first Vicari Auction bid was put in 21 years ago, just a year after Cruisin’ the Coast hit the streets of South Mississippi. Vicari Auction Owner Peter Vicari said, “You know, it was a hobby that just turned into a business. I’ve met some great friends and it just keeps growing. We’ve got people from all over the country because they love the environment, they love the cars, the prices are fair and reasonable and it’s a fun day for everybody.”
While the buyers and spectators appreciate all the action, the owners enjoy this life they get to call work. These owners come from all over America to auction off their classic cars, but for them this business doesn’t even feel like work. Dan Newcombe said, “We’re kinda like the circus coming to town. So, all of us buddies, we talk on the phone once in a while, but this is where we get together and go out and have good times.”
David Williams said, “And that’s truly these auctions, you know, this is work for us but where it’s so enjoyable is when we meet after the auction and we go out for dinner and cocktails and we get to see each other every month or whenever it might be, but that’s really the joy in it.”
If you want to ride away in one of these classic cars you still have time, the Vicari Auction will continue Friday and Saturday starting at 10 a.m. and is $15 for entry.
It might be a bit intimidating when the auctioneer starts, but you won’t want to miss what this show has to offer.
