The Shed serves up free bbq and community spirit during Annual Labor Day Giveaway
Ocean Springs, Miss. (WXXV) — Hundreds of people gathered at The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint in Ocean Springs on Labor Day to enjoy free pulled pork sandwiches as part of the restaurant’s annual community giveaway tradition.
The event marked the 14th Annual Labor Day Giveaway, a milestone celebration for The Shed, which has now served more than 11,000 free pulled pork sandwiches since the tradition began.
Families, friends and barbecue lovers filled the popular barbecue destination throughout the day, taking advantage of the free sandwiches before supplies ran out.
In addition to the food giveaway, one lucky visitor had the opportunity to win a Monument Denali 605-Pro Series Grill, valued at $900, adding even more excitement to the holiday celebration.
Organizers said the annual giveaway is their way of giving back to the community and thanking customers for their continued support over the years.
The barbecue festivities at The Shed are far from over. The restaurant is preparing to host its upcoming BBQ Competition on Sept. 18 and 19, featuring $8,500 in cash payouts and competition categories for both adults and children.
The event is expected to draw barbecue teams and enthusiasts from across the Gulf Coast for two days of food, competition and family-friendly fun.
