Daily rain chances stick with us this week

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi

A few showers and thunderstorms could pop up tonight, especially before 11 p.m. and again toward daybreak Tuesday. Most of the night will be quiet, but a few of those storms could dump some heavier rain. Temperatures will only drop to around 77.

Tuesday looks to be a mix of sunshine and storms. We’ll get up to around 90 degrees, with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7 a.m. Most spots won’t see a ton of rain, but a few storms could produce heavier downpours.

Then things could get even wetter Wednesday. We’re looking at an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures topping out around 88 degrees.

Thursday and Friday will keep the storm chances going, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms both days. Highs will stay in the upper 80s.

And it doesn’t look like the pattern changes much over the weekend. Saturday will bring another good chance of showers and thunderstorms, while Sunday will also have scattered storms possible. Highs will stay right around 89 to 90 degrees.
