Retail crime patrol benefits the City of D’Iberville

For tonight’s Wanted Wednesday we go to D’Iberville, more specifically The Promenade, a place that falls victim to many crimes involving theft and robbery. The police department is hard at work to bring retail crimes down and put wanted criminals behind bars.
On February 1st, the D’Iberville Police Department launched their retail crime unit, a unit funded by a state grant that allows two full time officers to handle retail crimes in the city so other officers can handle the streets.
Today News 25 checked in with Investigator Terry Joiner to see how the effort is benefiting the city so far. “Since February 1st, we’ve been able to get 21 warrants for people that we’ve identified in shoplifting cases. The big message that we want to put out there is that if you come into the City of D’Iberville with the intent to commit a retail crime, we will find you. We will find out who you are and we will get you.”
The state grant given to the D’Iberville Police Department for retail crime is over $170,000.
