Gulf Coast Musical Theater Prepares for Titanic the Musical

In Gulfport Thursday night, the Gulf Coast Musical Theater Company made last minute preparations for opening night of The Titanic.

Friday night, the group will open the musical at 8 p.m. on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (M.G.C.C.C.) campus stage. Rehearsals have been going on for five months and Thursday night was the final dress rehearsal. Throughout the process, Director, Pamela Broussard Jones, says it’s been a history lesson for all.

Jones says, “The most fun part of this is that we’re actually portraying real life characters that were actually on the Titanic. Of course some lived and some didn’t, and we have gotten to learn a whole lot about who we are as a character through the history.”

Several actors are making their debuts Friday night and all are looking forward to the performances. Tickets are selling out quickly. Performances are November 7th and 8th at 8 p.m. and November 9th and 3 p.m. at the M.G.C.C.C.’s Jefferson Davis campus in Gulfport.
