Child advocates, state leaders gather for 13th annual One Loud Voice conference
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi brought state leaders and child advocates together in Biloxi to strengthen the fight against child abuse.
The center wrapped up its 13th annual One Loud Voice conference Thursday at Beau Rivage.
The three-day event brought together advocates, law enforcement officials, and mental health professionals to discuss child abuse prevention, investigation, treatment, and support for victims.
Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch took part in a panel discussion focused on the state’s response to child abuse. “We believe in making our children a priority. So, we look out after them, their safety, protection, and we do it on all levels with great partners. Some of the partners that have been here throughout this conference. It’s important that we all rally together for our children. For us we have a children’s justice division, my different attorney’s, investigators are involved, because we want to help protect these children. We look at it from every angle from human trafficking, child exploitation, the fentanyl strike force, and the fentanyl one pill can kill. We’re just always looking for ways to protect our children.”
Thursday’s panel also included Children Advocacy Centers of Mississippi CEO Karla Tye and former Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell.
Speakers stressed the importance of agencies working together to protect children and strengthen child advocacy efforts across Mississippi.
