Jackson County man sentenced for child exploitation
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A Jackson County man will spend three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to a child exploitation charge.
Twenty-six-year-old Dylan McDaniel of Ocean Springs was sentenced Monday and will serve this sentence without the possibility of parole.
The case began in April 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities to suspected child sexual abuse material being uploaded from an Ocean Springs address.
Jackson County investigators executed a search warrant, seized McDaniel’s phone, and a forensic examination uncovered multiple images of child sexual abuse material, along with evidence he was trading files through the messaging app Kik.
McDaniel will also have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
