Governor Reeves announces federal funding to expand youth mental health services

JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)-More than $13 million in grant money has been earmarked to expand mental health services for Mississippi’s youth.

Governor Tate Reeve’s office says the funding comes from a federal COVID relief program and will support several initiatives aimed at improving access to care statewide.

That includes training more mental health professionals and increasing support in schools and underserved communities.

Programs receiving funding will focus on everything from child psychiatric access and substance abuse screening to scholarships for nurse practitioners and workforce training.
