Hancock County School bond vote set for next month

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- We’re a little more than a month out from a bond vote in Hancock County, with the school district seeking nearly $50 million in bonds to fund renovations to campuses across the district.

The ballot for this bond measure will allow voters to either vote for or against the bond issue, and details what the money will be used for if the measure passes.

The advocacy group Hancock Forward released a video on social media over the weekend with remarks from School District Superintendent Rhett Ladner, students, and school district staff talking about why changes are needed at many of these campuses, especially when it comes to additional parking and classroom infrastructure.

Hancock County voters will head to the polls for this bond election on Tuesday, May 19.
