DeLisle Elementary students host reading ‘March Madness’

First graders at DeLisle Elementary are getting a little March Madness of their own, but this tournament is all about books.

Throughout the month, students are taking part in a bracket-style reading challenge inspired by the NCAA tournament.

Sixteen books are going head-to-head with a special guest reader stopped by each day to share one of the stories.

After the reading, students vote for their favorite and the winning book moves on to the next round.

By the end of March, only one story will remain and be crowned the class’ ‘champion book.’

Teachers say it is a fun way to build excitement for reading and give students a voice in picking their favorite stories.
