Christening for new Naval support ship at Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- Navy leaders and local shipbuilders will gather at Pascagoula’s Bollinger Shipyard to mark the christening of a Naval support ship.

The USNS Robert Ballard is an oceanographic survey ship and will be used moving forward to support the Navy’s continued efforts to study the world’s oceans.

The ships namesake, Robert Ballard, is most well known for his discovery of the Titanic wreckage in 1985.
