Update on crawfish prices as Lent begins

SLIDELL, LOUISIANA (WXXV)- The start of Lent is bringing higher prices to seafood markets here in the Gulf South.

Just across the state line in Slidell, the January cold snap has slowed crawfish production and pushed prices to nearly seven dollars a pound.

Market owners say the supply crunch comes at a critical time with Lent now in full swing.

Vendors are hopeful the catch will increase as temperatures stabilize.
