King cake popularity keeping local bakeries busy

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- King cakes are a Mardi Gras tradition and a popular treat throughout the Mardi Gras season.

From a variety of flavors and displaying all the Mardi Gras colors, these cakes are in high demand this time of year, which keeps many local bakeries along the Coast busy baking the Mardi Gras treat.

Sucre Dolot is a wholesale bakery that took home the title of 2025 Best King Cake in Ocean Springs. The bakery was renominated for this year’s Ocean Springs King Cake contest.

The City of Ocean Springs will announce the winner tomorrow.
