Black History Month Feature: 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)- February is Black History Month, a time to honor the people and places that shaped our communities.
On the Mississippi Gulf Coast, one historic landmark stands as a powerful symbol of African American culture, resilience, and music history.
Tucked into the heart of Bay St. Louis sits the 100 Men Hall, a place that tells more than a century of stories.
100 Men Hall was founded in 1894 by a group of African American men committed to support their community during segregation.
During a time when African Americans were excluded from many public spaces, this hall became a safe haven and place for meetings, celebrations, and opportunity.
Today, 100 Men Hall continues to host live performances, preserving the blues and jazz traditions that helped define the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
