Governor Reeves requests major disaster declaration

As recovery efforts continue in North Mississippi, following last week’s winter storm, Governor Tate Reeves is seeking more help from the federal government in the state’s recovery response.

The major disaster declaration signed by the governor on Tuesday is specific to counties reporting damage.

It includes a request for public assistance to assist local governments, including for debris removal and disaster unemployment.

MEMA officials continue to coordinate with their federal partners at FEMA to bring more resources into the state like medical supplies and generators.
