Thanksgiving Travel Enforcement period begins

If you plan to hit the road later tonight or at some point over the next few days, you may see an increase in law enforcement on our Mississippi roads.

Mississippi Highway Patrol’s yearly Thanksgiving Travel Enforcement Period kicked off earlier this evening. It runs through midnight Sunday.

As with all holiday enforcement periods, state troopers will be looking for things like distracted and impaired driving, safety violations, plus highway and interstate patrols.

Last year, MHP issued nearly 6,700 citations during the Thanksgiving enforcement period.
