Pedestrian struck and killed on Highway 49

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Gulfport Police Department responded to a pedestrian being struck by a car on Highway 49.

The man was part of the homeless community here along the Coast and was wearing dark clothes crossing Highway 49 late at night.

According to Gulfport Sgt. Jason Ducre, he was struck while picking up a couple items he had accidentally dropped while crossing.

They are still waiting on next of kin to be notified at this time.
