Local kids audition for Broadway musical ‘A Christmas Story’ at Beau Rivage
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — An iconic Broadway show is coming to the Beau Rivage stage for Christmas this year. Dozens of kids are taking their shot, auditioning for “A Christmas Story.”
The iconic 1980’s “A Christmas Story” will soon come to the coast in musical form, and kids from across the region are auditioning for a spot on the Beau Rivage Stage. We got a behind the scenes look at the audition process, where over 30 kids had the chance to show off their singing, dancing, and acting skills.
Each of these talented kids brought their parents or talent agents with them for support. We caught up with a few of them backstage to see how they’re feeling.
The musical will highlight all of the film’s most memorable scenes, like when Ralphie’s friend, Flick, gets his tongue stuck to the flagpole, his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit, the bullies — Farkus and Dill, and much more.
Hudson Vander Voort from Woodlands, Texas, traveled all the way to Biloxi to fight for a spot in the production, and it looks like his hard work paid off, as he was cast in the musical.
In total, five kids were chosen for the production.
Those talented kids and many others already cast will spend two to three weeks putting the show together before curtains open for the first time. If you’re a fan of the movie and book, you definitely won’t want to miss this show.
“A Christmas Story” show will hit the stage on December 12 and will run until December 27.
