Governor Tate Reeves elected as South Regional Education Board Chair
JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)- Governor Tate Reeves has been elected as the Southern Regional Education Board’s chair.
That election was decided at the board meeting in Atlanta on June 22. He succeeds Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.
As the chair, Reeves leads the collaborative work of governors, legislators and state education leaders to improve public education at every level from childhood through doctoral education, even focusing on the workforce.
Governor Reeves shared in a statement he is honored to have been elected to the position and is excited to lead work on strengthening education across the South.
He says Mississippi education has risen by setting high standards and staying committed to results.
Governor Reeves also says he looks forward to working with governors and other officials to deliver more opportunity to students in the south.
