Governor Reeves announces boost to AI development in Mississippi

Mississippi is making a big push into artificial intelligence. Governor Tate Reeves announced a new initiative to grow AI talent across the state.

The Mississippi AI talent accelerator program aims to build skills in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced technologies through the state’s universities.

The goal is to support the growth of Amazon Web Services in Mississippi.

Amazon’s Director of Economic Development Roger Wehner says he’s most excited about the innovations that could come from Mississippi talent.

The governor also announced $9.1 million in grants through the accelerator program to boost AI education at state universities.

The AI initiative is a partnership between Accelerate MS, the Mississippi Development Authority, and Amazon Web Services.
