LSU’s road to Omaha

Whether it’s the first time, the last time, or somewhere in between, the road to Omaha is not to be taken for granted. Today, the LSU Tigers made that special voyage for the second time in three years.
This afternoon, the Purple and Gold took the diamond at Creighton University for their first practice leading up to Saturday’s game versus Florida State.
Since 1986, the Tigers have been to the College World Series 18 times, more than any other school over that span. In less than 48 hours, they’ll embark on their mission of winning their seventh national championship while embracing the experience of Omaha in all of its glory. LSU Shortstop Kramer Robertson said, “It’s pretty special driving by the stadium, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it. I got to see the old Rosenblatt when I came here for a travel ball tournament once and got to go to a game there. But it’s the first time I’ve ever seen TD Ameritrade, so it looks majestic and it just made me more anxious for the next couple days to actually go inside and play in there.”
LSU Second baseman Cole Freeman said, “Because this is what you work for and Coach even told us that. I mean really we come out to practice and come out here and move around, tune up a little bit, but nothing we do in practice right now is going to get us any more ready than we already are.”
LSU and the Seminoles will get things rolling at 7 p.m. Saturday from TD Ameritrade Park.
