Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College joins Lowe’s Foundation Workforce Group

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is joining a new national effort to address the growing shortage of skilled trade workers.

The Lowe’s Foundation announced the ‘Building Futures Skilled Trades Coalition’ Wednesday, bringing together educators, businesses, and workforce organizations from across the country.

The college has already received $1.7 million in grants from the Lowe’s Foundation since 2023, supporting training, scholarships and programs in construction, electrical technology, and other skilled trades.

The new coalition will focus on attracting more people to the trades, expanding training programs, and better connecting workers with employers.
