Cruisin’ the Coast preparing for 30th anniversary
America’s Largest Block Party is just around the corner and there are some new additions planned for the 30th anniversary of Cruisin’ the Coast.
Last year, the event set a record with more than 10,000 classic cars cruising the 30-mile stretch of Highway 90. This year, they’re planning for more than 11,000 classics to roll through the streets of South Mississippi.
As part of the 30th anniversary, there will be special cash prizes, special guest appearances, and a patriotic fireworks show to mark the milestone.
We spoke with organizers as they prepare for what could be an even bigger turnout this year. Executive Director Woody Bailey said, “We’re preparing for 11,000 folks to register. Whether we hit that mark or not, it’s hard to tell. But we’re going to be ready if we if we do. So, it’s going to be an exciting year. We’re doing also our economic impact study this year. So, on the business side of things, we do that every five years. So, we’ll be anxious to see what sort of impact we have on the Gulf Coast economy and the state economy. We look at both of those areas for the impact.”
