Special session adjourns sine die

Mississippi lawmakers have passed a budget and have adjourned the special session called for that matter.

The Senate gave its approval to the budget at the end of day one of the session, leaving it to the House to complete its deliberations, which they did Thursday.

Speaker Jason White issued a statement following the special session adjournment. “The House concluded our work on the state budget and adjourned the special session sine die. I am proud of our House Appropriation chairs, who worked extremely hard to come forward with a conservative budget that reflects the priorities of the state and funds our core functions of government.”

Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann also released a statement following the special session. “Today you finished a prudent, conservative budget which positions Mississippi for a continued positive financial horizon, while continuing to reduce taxes.”
