Officials break ground on Gulf Coast Rail Project in Mobile

Federal and regional transportation leaders making the next steps in the return of passenger rail to the Coast today.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was in Mobile today at the groundbreaking for the Gulf Coast Rail Project, a project that’s been 20 years in the making.

As we’ve reported over the past few months, passenger rail service between New Orleans and Mobile is on its way to being restored with four stops on the Coast, the first time since Hurricane Katrina.
