Long Beach class of ’65 reunites for Homecoming parade
This year marks the 60th reunion for the Long Beach High class of 1965, with several of them gathering on their on float Thursday night for the Long Beach Homecoming parade.
Even after all these years these Bearcats feel they still share the same bond they did with one another when they were still just kids.
“We share the same bonds, the same family values, the same silliness, friendship, music, and memories of course. We talk about class and teachers that meant so much to us,” said Jackie, a member of the 1965 class.
For this class, being with one another after all this time is worth its weight in gold, especially when others couldn’t make it or sadly have passed on.
“There’s only so many days you have left and you want to do as much as you can while you can, so to get together while they’re here is outstanding, and remember the ones that didn’t get a chance to be here. That’s the way it should be and I hope people understand that, said Robert McCormick, a fellow graduate of the 1965 class.
Years have gone by but they still have as much energy as they did back in 1965.
“We have a ball. We’re as silly as we were in high school or worse. We have no filters now,” said Jackie.
