Community comes out to 43rd annual Biloxi Seafood Festival
The iconic Biloxi Seafood Festival made its annual return to the Coast this weekend, seeing a huge turnout at the Biloxi Town Green on Saturday.
“There are marinated crab claws. There is also stuffed pineapple and Dem Dam Burgers has that. It actually has shrimp and pineapple and rice in it. We even had cheese cheesesteak, but seafood infused.”
You’ve probably heard it countless times over from many far and wide, but nothing beats the seafood cuisine on the Coast and the once seafood capital of the world in Biloxi did it once yet again with its delicious festival. Ashley Briscoe with the Biloxi Seafood Festival Board said, “Over there that has alligator skewers, which I think is really, really cool. We have another vendor that has Desporte seafood right down the road. They have crab cakes, over here we’ve got charbroiled oysters. So, kind of got a little bit of everything.”
Festival goer Jaylen Tucker said, “People, they always like coming here. They love seafood and it’s just a little too expensive. So, like, usually the reason why they do that is because it’s something like, earned. It’s kind of like for the whole Coast and all of us just hanging out.”
Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Director LaWanda Jones said, “But for us to host a seafood festival, and so the monies and funds that are raised through the gates and stuff go back into our small business grants as well as scholarships.”
