Tropical Storm Warning Issued for South MS due to Tropical Storm Francine
A more pronounced eastward shift increases our wind and surge potential slightly, though landfall still in Central LA.
The latest from the National Hurricane center on Tropical Storm Francine has brought about some changes. The landfall time has sped up, now expected around 6 PM in Central Louisiana. That said, the center track did shift more noticeably eastward, which prompted a Tropical Storm Watch issued for our South MS coastline. We were already expected mid-to-upper end tropical storm activity in the area, so outside of now having the official warning not much changed there. The storm also weakened overall, now peaking near 85 mph as a stronger end Category 1 Storm.
We’re still over a day from landfall, so continue to check back here, our social media pages, and on the air on WXXV News 25 for more over the next 36 hours.
