Good Brothers Seafood grand opening brings hope for future development in Moss Point
The city of Moss Point has been going through a financial rough patch after losing economic development and being struck by a tornado, but officials can finally breathe a small sigh of relief as they welcome new local businesses back to town.
“I’ve been pushing economic development ever since I got here because we need more money coming into the city,” said Mayor Billy Knight. “When we see businesses like this, it only proves that this is what we have to do. We want people to see that we’re on the right track. We’re trying to revitalize downtown and revitalize the old business district in Moss Point. This is just another good example of that.”
Long-time Moss Point resident and owner of Good Brother Seafood, Edward Good, already had success in Gulfport, but he packed it up to come home for a chance to share the wealth with his community.
“We are going to turn this whole parking lot into something that people will have an opportunity to shop and more importantly, earn a living because we’re going to turn it into a flea market and food court where other vendors can take advantage of this safe location to do business,” Good said.
After a string of bad luck, the city needed something good – and it comes in the form of a chef who wants to see others succeed.
“It feels absolutely great to be an asset to this community. To be someone who can be an employer, who can be where success comes through. That’s our goal,” said Good. “Money is something that people earn every day, but to be able to be a conduit from poverty to stability for any family is the ultimate goal of Good Bros Seafood.”
Good Brothers Seafood is open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 7 P.M.
