Beau Rivage gives Gulf Coast students a back-to-school boost with supply donations

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- As students head back to the classroom, the Beau Rivage is helping make sure they have the supplies they need for a successful school year.

Beau Rivage employees sorted and packed hundreds of school supplies, preparing them to be distributed to five schools and one local nonprofit across Harrison and Jackson counties. Beau Rivage Guest Experience Manager Ashley Thrash said, “This is an event that we’ve had over the last 10 years, so every July our employees know it’s coming. They get really excited; they get competitive within the departments at work. We know that whenever we bring these school supplies and deliver them it’s such a lift off of the parents. School supplies and everything is a lot higher right now. It’s a lift for the teachers, the staff, they’re so appreciative, and excited when we get here. We’re really grateful that we have the opportunity to do this. ”

The drive is part of Beau Rivage’s ‘Focused on What Matters’ Initiative, a program designed to invest in the communities it serves. Organizers say helping students start the school year prepared can make a big difference in the classroom. Escatawpa Upper Elementary Principal Janice Richardson said, “This year we came up with our theme, building our future. Our theme is going to focus on teamwork and accountability. When students run out of supplies, with Beau Rivage help, it will assist us in making sure our students are equipped on a day-to-day basis. ”

The success of this year’s effort has the Beau Rivage looking ahead as the company plans to continue and expand the drive to reach even more students in the future.
