Sparklight donating to nonprofits across South Mississippi
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Sparklight is donating $10,000 this week to local charities.
Tuesday afternoon in Gulfport, the company presented the Wayfinder Initiative with a $7,500 grant.
The donation supports the nonprofit’s digital literacy and workforce readiness programs.
Sparklight aims to help the Wayfinder Initiative further its mission of removing obstacles to educational and economic success.
We spoke with the nonprofit’s leader about what this donation means for the community. Wayfinder Initiative Director Kristy Wheat said, “This is going to allow us to cultivate our Thursday night Wayfinder programming, which is for families, and it will be an opportunity for a family unit to come to Wayfinder to learn something. For example, it might be credit building, could be financial literacy, digital AI, in today’s time and age. And they will be able to learn in an adult-friendly space, and who will have the kids and teens in a different space, and then they’ll all come together to work on a project as a family. On Wednesday, Sparklight is also donating to Community Action of South Mississippi in Moss Point.
A $2,500 grant will help the nonprofit provide hygiene products, baby care supplies, and cleaning items to local families facing financial hardship.
