Star Spangled Beach Clean Up
One coastal organization is working to give back to the community this weekend.
The Mississippi Coastal Clean Up Program is picking up firework debris from Fourth of July celebrations. One benefit of the program is being able to conduct research on litter in the area.
Program Coordinator Evelyn McQueen shares what areas are hosting clean ups. “We do this every year after the Fourth of July. We are out here to clean up the firework debris that gets left over after the fun everyone has. Not only do we want to keep the beach looking beautiful, but we want to keep this out of our water. So, for this year we have locations in Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, here in Long Beach, we’ll be at Jones Park in Gulfport, two Biloxi beaches, Ocean Springs Front Beach, and also Pascagoula.”
That beach clean up is happening Saturday at multiple beaches across the Coast from 8 to 10 a.m. For more information click here.
