School schedule changes in preparation for weather
Due to potential severe weather in the area, schools across the Coast are changing their schedules.
St. James Catholic School:
- For the safety of students and families, and due to the incoming inclement weather, St. James Catholic School will close at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. There will be NO afterschool care provided.
George County School District:
- Due to the threat of inclement weather in our area later today, the George County School District has made the decision to dismiss all students one hour early on Monday, January 8. Bus routes and parent pickups will begin 1 hour early at all schools.
- On Tuesday, January 9, school will begin at the regularly scheduled time for all students and staff. However, bus routes will begin one hour later than normal on Tuesday, January 9.
St. Patrick Catholic High School:
- Due to today’s inclement weather, St. Patrick Catholic High School will be releasing at 1:30 p.m. There will be no after-school program today. All afterschool activities are canceled.
MGCCC:
- Due to inclement weather, all MGCCC campuses and centers will close at 2:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. They will reopen for normal hours on January 9, 2024. Residence Halls on the Perkinston Campus will remain open.
Gulfport School District:
- The Gulfport School District will remain open today and will resume regular school hours. All Athletic events have been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 10th.
- After school care will remain open and will have regular hours, but everyone is encouraged to pick up as early as possible.
Pascagoula-Gautier School District:
- All after school activities have been canceled due to inclement weather
Jackson County School District:
- All after school activities have been canceled due to inclement weather
Moss Point School District:
- Due to inclement weather conditions, all after school activities for the Moss Point School District have been cancelled for today, Monday, January 8, 2024. This includes the Boys and Girls Club.
- In addition, the Magnolia Middle School basketball Championship game has been postponed until Thursday, January 11th, at 5PM.
Ocean Springs School District:
- All after-school activities have been canceled due to inclement weather.
Our Lady Academy/ St. Stanislaus
- Our Lady Academy and St. Stanislaus will dismiss at 12 noon today. All students need to be off campus by 12:30.
- Holy Trinity Catholic School will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
- All after school activities have been canceled.
Hancock County School District:
- Elementary Schools- 11:30

Pearl River County School District:
