8/21 – Chris’s “Heat and Tropical Mischief” Monday Evening Forecast

Another day with oppressive heat across the southern six. Newly-formed Tropical Depression 9 is currently making its way through the central Gulf this afternoon. It has brought deeper moisture and scattered  showers and thunderstorms to areas south of I-10. Therefore, that area has received some relief from the heat as highs so far are mostly in the low 90s. While the areas south of I-10 got some relief, everywhere else continued to torch. Where the tropical wave failed to make an impact, the heat dome over the central US continued its relentless heat.  Temperatures will however drop off to the upper 90s this evening before a overnight low in the upper 70s. Tomorrow we will see another heat advisory with heat indices between 103-110. Ambient temperatures will be in the upper 90s across the area some recording spots could hit the century mark. The heat is really on for Wednesday ambient  temperatures will be at or above 100 degrees. An Excessive heat watch is already in place for Wednesday for heat indices  from 110-116. Thursday the oppressive heat will continue as the heat dome continues to build across the southeast.

Friday rain chances return as a trough of low pressure moves into the northern portions of our state. Temperatures will continue to be in the upper 90s across the area until we reach Sunday. A front moves through elevating rain chances  through Monday. Temperatures are finally back to average on Monday at 91.
