6/19 – Jeff Vorick’s “Severe Thunderstorm Threat” Monday Evening Forecast

The threat for strong to severe thunderstorms will continue through a portion of this evening. Thunderstorms have the potential of producing damaging winds, small hail, and isolated spin-ups. Things will gradually quiet down overnight.

Tomorrow will provide for similar conditions with heat, humidity, and the chance for strong thunderstorms. Our area is in a Level 2 of 5, or Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow. An energized jet stream and summertime heat and humidity will provide the ingredients.

Thunderstorm chances will remain for the rest of the week but coverage and severity will look to be less. In the tropics, Tropical Storm Bret has formed and it will move into the vicinity of the Caribbean later this week. At the moment, it poses no threat to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
